Being: the Change offers tailored coaching solutions to inspire, empower and support people who want to realise their dreams.
The word "realise" has two meanings here:
To become fully aware of, by enabling people to become better observers of their own perspective and shift that perspective so that they can see and take advantage of the opportunities that are available to them
To bring into reality, by equipping people with the skills to manage themselves and work more effectively with others to create positive change in the world
Coaching with Being: the Change incorporates both of these aspects, to inspire profound personal transformation, and empower and support the achievement of tangible outcomes.
What is coaching?
Even though coaching has been around for decades now, it’s probably worth clarifying what it is and what it isn’t.
The International Coach Federation (ICF) describes coaching as follows:
“Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”
Here’s my interpretation of some of the key terms in the definition:
“Partnering”: A coach is not in a position of authority with respect to the client. They are equals on a journey of discovery through a special type of conversation. The coach contributes impeccable listening and questioning, while the client contributes a willingness to explore new perspectives and a commitment to act on any new, constructive insights that might arise. This is why it generally doesn’t matter that a coach has no subject-matter expertise. They are not
“Thought-provoking”: A coach’s primary role is to ask questions that provoke new lines of thought in the client - new ways of seeing the situation, so that some different action can be taken.
“Creative”: When a client comes to see a coach, it is generally because the way they are handling a particular situation in their life is not working. The process of coaching is therefore creative, in that it enables the client to discover new possibilities to be, do and have something different in a situation that was previously “stuck”.
“Personal and professional”: While I typically meet clients when they are struggling with a work-related issue, it is quite common that the problems we face in our professional lives stem from a way of being that is showing up in our personal lives as well. Ontological coaching considers the client as a “whole person”, such that an impact on their way of being in one area of their lives is likely to produce benefits in other areas of their lives. Bonus!
“Potential”: One of the things I love about coaching - and, in particular, ontological coaching - is that it assumes that we are already perfect. By “perfect”, I don’t mean “flawless”. I mean that there’s nothing inherently “wrong” with us. We are all just in the process of learning. Coaching enables people to realise their potential - that is, to become aware of what is possible for them and to take action to bring that possibility into reality.
Coaching to realise your POTENTIAL
Coaching can be applied to any area of your life in which things are not the way you would like them to be.
Being: the Change specialises in the following types of coaching:
Everybody has the potential to be a leader, regardless of their title or role.
If you feel called to lead others towards a brighter future, Leadership Coaching will give you the space to explore the possibilities and support you to step into your power as a leader. And by “power”, I don’t mean brute force. I’m talking about your ability to inspire and influence others around your vision - your dream. And that starts with inspiring and influencing yourself.
The word “authenticity” gets thrown around a lot these days, but what does it really mean?
As I see it, authenticity begins with knowing who you really are and ends with the confidence to represent yourself with integrity and confidence, no matter what the context.
If you feel like you’re being weighed down by the burden of others’ expectations and long to fully express yourself in your uniqueness, Authenticity Coaching could be for you!
The “job for life” mentality is well and truly extinct. But what about the “career for life” mentality? As technology reshapes the possibilities of the working world, we have the opportunity to pursue careers that simply did not exist a few decades ago. Exciting - but also daunting, right?
Career Coaching can help you to create a meaningful, sustainable career by helping you to identify your purpose, uncover your transferable skills and design an action plan to bridge the gap from where you are to where you want to be.
Life is too short to be in a job that doesn’t fully satisfy you!
Maybe you’ve just been made redundant. (Ouch - I’m sorry.) Maybe your kids have left home. Or maybe you’ve just had a “big birthday” and you feel like something’s not quite right, but you just can’t put your finger on what it is.
There are times when life throws us a curveball, and we are left to adapt to the consequences. Transition Coaching can help you to regain your sense of internal (and external) balance during this time of uncertainty, so that you can take advantage of this opportunity to reinvent yourself and find a new path that is aligned with your priorities.
